At this time, the Owens Franklin Health Center is still operating under normal hours: Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm with telehealth appointments Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. In-clinic appointments are available in Health Services and Student Counseling Services on Wednesday.

Availability of appointments for certain services may be limited during the COVID-19 response. For your safety and the safety of others, an appointment is required for services to be rendered. No walk in service is available.

  • All calls will consist of a pre-screening process, regardless of health concern, to decrease the spread of respiratory illness.

Testing for coronavirus (COVID-19) is not available.

If you are feeling sick and it is different than normal, pay attention and call your health care provider.

  • Being in a place where ongoing community spread of the virus has been reported.
  • Being a healthcare worker caring for patients with COVID-19.
  • Being in close contact with persons with COVID-19.
  • Traveling to affected international locations where community spread is occurring.

According to the CDC, community spread means people have been infected with the virus in an area, including some who are not sure how or where they became infected.

  • Report any symptoms of COVID-19 immediately to you medical provider- preferably by calling to get advice and instructions.
  • Stay in your room or apartment. Do not go to work, classes, athletic events, social or religious gatherings for at least 14 days after your return to the United States  from the country in question.
  • Limit contact with others as much as possible. This also mean limiting close contact with others including persons living in your residence.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water, or use alcohol-based hand rubs after coughing, sneezing or throwing a used tissue in the garbage.
  • Avoid Sharing household items. Do not share drinking glasses, towels, eating utensils, bedding, or any other items until you are no longer asked to self-isolate.
  • Keep your surroundings clean. while the virus is not spread very well from contact with soiled household surfaces, try to clean surfaces that you share with others, such as door knobs, telephones, and bathroom surfaces (or any other object that you sneeze or cough on), with a standard household disinfectant wipe. Wash your hands after cleaning the area.
  • Monitor yourself for symptoms at least daily including measuring your temperature. Any symptoms of COVID-19 should be reported to your physician.
    • Feel free to download the CDC Check and Report Every Day (CARE) Booklet, which helps you understand how to self monitor your health and how to check your symptoms.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes with your upper sleeve or a tissue. Never cough in the direction of someone else

Discontinue home isolation only after you meet the criteria provided by the CDC and have been cleared by Health Services Staff.

When can I fill this out? 

On or after the last day of your quarantine/isolation period.

Can I submit it early if I am feeling fine or get another test?

No, you will not be able to return prior to the date stated in your quarantine/isolation notification.

Who reviews this form?

Health Services clinical staff review all clearance forms for return to campus.

How long will it take for the form to be reviewed?

Please allow until the end of the next business day for your clearance request to be processed.

How to make an appointment

If you have been diagnosed with coronavirus, you are not permitted on any of the university’s campuses until you are cleared by your doctor and by the Student Health Center (call 936-261-1410). If you suspect that you have been in contact with someone with coronavirus, call 211 from your cell phone immediately, and then call our Student Health Center or Coronavirus Hotline at 936-261-9000.
