Panthers Phd’s

What Is A Panther PhD?

Panthers Promoting Healthy Decisions or The Panther PhDs is a peer lead organization of students who become Certified Peer Educators NASPA’s Bacchus Initiatives and PVAMU’s Health Services. Its members are comprised of students on campus who take on a role of peer educators to educate the student body, campus and community on making healthier decisions. We do this by conducting education through interaction which means most of the education that is done by the peer educators is hands on. We educate on topics such as Alcohol Awareness, STI/HIV Awareness, Nutrition, Stress, Hypertension and Tobacco Education. The Panther PhDs practice confidentiality, integrity and trustworthiness when dealing with the said topics. The Panther PhDs are apart of PVAMU’s Health Services, which fall under Health Education & Health Promotion. We attend yearly trainings and conferences to better service our community and we aim to make sure that we promote the safest practices when matriculating thru ones college career.

Our Purpose

The way we accomplish this goal is through workshops, seminars, training, in class presentations, panel discussions as well as setting up informational booths in local areas of campus. Prevention through education is the key to creating healthy behaviors  and we look to help all who are in need.
