Prairie View A&M University comes together as a community to recognize Suicide Prevention Day and bring awareness to the importance of mental health, suicide prevention, and supporting one another. This tribute and walk is more than simply taking steps around our campus. Each step represents hope, strength, remembrance, and our commitment to making sure no one feels alone in their struggles. This day reminds each other that it is okay to ask for help, it is okay to not have all the answers, and most importantly, it is okay to talk about what we are going through. We also walk in honor and remembrance of those whose lives have been impacted by suicide. We recognize the families, friends, classmates, and communities who continue to carry those losses. Today, we choose to remember their lives while also bringing hope to those who may be struggling today.
