The university has established rules and procedures for navigating student grievances and grade appeals.
Student Classroom Grievances
The Office of the Provost advises students to first seek resolution of classroom grievances with the appropriate faculty member and the academic advisor. If an appeal is necessary, students should contact the Department Head and/or Academic Dean in which the course is offered for guidance. The Office of the Provost Academic Conference Request is the final step in resolving a student concern. The conference request is not a meeting, but an attempt to assist a student in resolving an academic concern at the highest level. Please use the link below to submit a conference request that remains unresolved after consultation with your academic advisor, faculty member, department head, and/or dean.

Indebtedness Appeals
A student is responsible for paying all tuition and fees as outlined on the Tuition and Fee bill. The payment of student tuition and fees is a legal obligation. Indebtedness appeals may be reviewed for extenuating circumstances within one semester of departure from the university based on a claim that you did not attend the university, you were not registered for classes, or you officially withdrew from the university prior to the first day of class. A student should review state and university policies prior to completing an indebtedness appeal.
Grade Appeals
University Administrative Procedure (UAP) 13.02.99.P0.01 outlines the official grade appeal policy. The grade appeal process must be initiated by the student with the faculty member of record and based on criteria set forth in the procedure. There are several levels of a grade appeal, including instructor, department, and academic dean. The Office of the Provost is the final step in the grade appeal process. A student wishing to file a grade appeal is advised to review the UAP and Grade Appeal Forms with their academic advisor prior to submission to the faculty member.
Dean of Student Referrals
The Office of the Dean of Students offers support for issues and concerns of any nature that impact a student’s academic, social, and emotional development.
General Concerns
A student may have a concern that a particular office may resolve. We encourage a student to first consult with their academic advisor for possible follow-up with the following offices:
