April 12 – As the nation focuses on the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccines, the Healthy Houston Initiative (HHI) is on the frontlines of the vaccination efforts in the city of Houston.

In March, HHI joined forces with Custom Care Pharmacy to host a vaccination drive at the Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) Northwest Houston Campus. With the help of the HHI team, PVAMU staff, and the Custom Care Pharmacy team, Dr. Carmalita Landry-Ovid administered more than 30 Pfizer first-dose shots. The groups will collaborate once again to administer the second dose on April 21.

A week after the vaccination drive at the Northwest Houston Center, HHI and PVAMU staff joined Custom Care Pharmacy again at Campbell Education Center in the Aldine Independent School District for another COVID-19 vaccination drive. The group administered approximately 200 Pfizer first-dose vaccines to Aldine ISD teachers, faculty, staff, and community residents and will return on April 26 to assist with the second-dose administration.

The HHI is looking to continue assisting with COVID-19-related efforts and is seeking opportunities to help provide accessible resources related to COVID-19.
