Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) Extension proudly hosted a Get HUB-certified workshop at the Mercedes Chamber of Commerce in Mercedes, TX.  The aim of this event was to empower local businesses with invaluable insights into the State of Texas Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) Program.

The city of Mercedes is in south Texas, specifically Hidalgo County, one of the over 56 counties that PVAMU Extension serves through its commitment to create programs, services, products, and processes to meet the identified needs of families and communities throughout the state of Texas.

The State of Texas HUB Program is designed to promote full and equal business opportunities for all Texas-certified HUBs. By addressing disparities in state procurement and contracting, the program aims to foster a more inclusive and equitable business environment.

The workshop served as a comprehensive guide to a clear understanding of what the HUB certification means for their businesses, and they learned how to effectively complete the application process to become HUB certified.

“We are thrilled to see the overwhelming response to the Get HUB certified workshop,” said Rina Castillo, PVAMU Extension Community and Economic Development  Agent. “Empowering local businesses with the tools and resources they need to thrive is at the heart of our mission, and we are proud to support their journey towards a HUB certification.”

PVAMU Extension provides cutting-edge, research-based information to all Texans in support of our mission to build resilient families, improve farm sustainability, expand small businesses, and empower youth to be leaders now and into the future.
