Relevance

The L.E.A.D. mobile application was created as a tool to track critical data that would extend to medical practitioners and caregivers. The goal of this program is to assess the effectiveness of the Live well, Eat well, be Active with Diabetes curriculum and provide digital support through a mobile application. The LEAD curriculum will distribute and obtain pre and post-surveys and the mobile app will record the number of downloads.

Response

Target audiences consist of African American and Hispanic populations in four Texas counties who will learn how to manage diabetes. After the study is conducted, expectations are that participants will increase their knowledge, change their behavior, and improve their A1C levels after three months.

Results

The LEAD curriculum reached approximately 1,248 participants in 2021 while the LEAD app had 500 plus downloads.

The LEAD application has the following functions:

  • Medications
  • Medicine Alert
  • Doctor’s Appointments
  • Medicine Track
  • Vital Signs
  • Physical Activity
  • Healthy Foods

Evaluation

The LEAD mobile Application served the broader public since its design can be used by anyone for multiple purposes, not just diabetes.
