Relevance 

The overall goal of the Renewable Forest Resources is to plan and implement workshops, training, demonstrations, and other events that are effective, sustainable, and impactful to address current and emerging issues in areas of renewable resources. To fulfill this goal, farmers, ranchers, landowners, and others will be assisted and trained on how to develop forest management plans. 

 

Response 

The Renewable Resources programs include the AgroForestry, Wildlife, and Controlling Feral Hog Virtual Workshop, and two Forestry Production and Management virtual workshops. Participants included forest landowners, farmers, ranchers, and others with an interest in agriculture and related fields. Some of the workshop presentations included: Timber &Wildlife Forestry Management, Quail Re-establishment Habitant Program in North Texas, Feral Hogs or Wild Pigs Control in Texas, How to Develop and Manage a Sustainable and Viable Forestry Operation, Generational Wealth and Land Management, USDA NRCS Forestry Management Programs and Resources. Other topics that were covered during the workshops include Forestry Issues and Challenges, How to Obtain FSA Farm Number, and How to Enroll in NRCS Cost Share Programs. 

 

 

Results 

The Texas AgriForestry Small Farmers and Ranchers, Texas Forestry Association, Landowners Association of Texas, 100 Ranchers, Pineywoods Small Farms and Ranchers. Some of the programs included virtual workshops and training. A survey was administered after each virtual workshop. 100% of the participants who completed the Forestry Production and Workshop survey indicated that they increased their knowledge of forestry management practices.
