Vision boards are said to be therapeutic and a mood booster. According to healthline.com, vision boards can change thinking patterns and behaviors to help individuals meet their goals.

The Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) Cooperative Extension Program (CEP) recently partnered with Communities in Schools, Brazoria County, to host a school-wide vision board workshop at Wharton Junior High School.

During the event, families learned the importance of setting goals and creating visualizations to help accomplish their goals and desires. Participants had an hour to illustrate the life that they envision for themselves.

“I feel rewarded because most of them had never heard about creating vision boards,” Wharton County CEP Agent Kashara Bell said. “It was interesting and fun.”

According to Bell, many participants used their vision boards to share their dream careers and the college they want to attend.

“I encouraged them to put their vision boards somewhere visible and to look at it every day,” Bell said. “I made planning sheets for them to write down their plan of action to achieve their goals.”

The workshop is a collaboration with the Wharton County Junior High, HEB, Wharton County Culinary Program, and the Wharton County Library System.
