The student-led garden is one of the main attractions at Prairie View A&M University’s Governor Bill and Vera Daniel Farm and Ranch. The garden sits on a half-acre plot of land and has produced more than 30 species of food crops. Its reach extends far beyond the boundaries of PVAMU, as it provides several organizations — including a food bank — with fresh fruit and vegetables. PVAMU Cooperative Extension Program’s Agriculture and Natural Resources Program Leader Clarence Bunch, Ph.D., recently penned an article featured in Texas Gardener magazine about the significance of the student-led garden.
