March 15 – Thanks to a scholarship honoring a graduate student’s memory, five College of Agriculture and Human Sciences (CAHS) students have received $1,000 each to continue their Agriculture studies.

CAHS students Jayla LaDay, Peter Moorer, Lenaye Palmer, Kaitlyn Taylor, and Jaden White have been named as the 2021 Greg Payne Scholarship recipients. The scholarship was established in 2005 in honor of Payne, a PVAMU graduate student majoring in Agricultural Economics.

After Payne passed away in 2003, his family and the Minnesota chapter of the National Organization of Black Natural Resources Conservation Service Employees (NOBNRCSE) started the scholarship is his memory. The scholarships provide students with funds to study Agriculture in hopes of cultivating prosperous careers in the field.
