Thanks to a partnership between the Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) Cooperative Extension Program (CEP) Community and Economic Development unit and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), nearly $470,000 in small business loan assistance has been submitted through the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).

The two agencies recently hosted “Pop Up and Do Your PPP,” a two-day pop-up event in the city of Prairie View. Small business owners – including the self-employed, sole proprietors, gig workers, and independent contractors – attended the event and received assistance filling out their PPP application.

According to the United States Small Business Administration, the PPP offers loans to businesses to assist them in ensuring their employees remain employed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

After the success of the initial event, the two agencies are planning future events to aid other small business owners.
