The Penn Center for Minority Serving Intuitions (MSI) recently ranked Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) 7th out of its top ten HBCUs with the highest Latino/Latina population. The recognition comes as PVAMU has broadened its outreach to attract and enroll greater numbers of prospective Latino/Latina students.
“We are certainly proud and honored to be recognized as a leader among HBCUs in working to recruit and retain Latino/Latina students. Prairie View A & M University is steeped in a tradition of educating minority and socio-economically diverse students. Creating a welcoming environment for the rapidly growing college-age Hispanic population fits right in with our overall mission and our scholastic traditions,” explained Col. Mark Pearson, director of student enrollment. “We owe much of our success to our efforts to establish student affairs programs that exclusively cater to multicultural populations, like our Office of Multicultural Affairs.  This Office serves as a central base for all cultural student organizations and aims to create a more inclusive learning campus climate. We invite students from all backgrounds to learn more about the breadth of excellent educational opportunities we have to offer here at Prairie View A&M University,” Pearson continued.
