Fred A. Bonner II, Ed.D., professor, endowed chair in Educational Leadership and Counseling and founder and director of the MACH-III Center at Prairie View A&M University, will serve as a speaker for the 11th Annual Educational Summit hosted by the Texas Caucus of Black School Board Members. “It’s an organization that focuses on issues that are important to schools in Texas; particularly issues that are important on the minds and hearts of black school board members,” said Bonner. This year’s event will be hosted in Austin, TX and the theme is “Resilience: Providing Access, Diversity and Equity”.

“The summit is an opportunity for the black school board members across the state of Texas to talk about the salient issues,” said Bonner, “It gives them an opportunity to pull together to galvanize ideas about what is good for the greater good of Texas, particularly for black, minority and diverse populations.” Bonner also said the summit provides Black School Board Members with the platform to speak about the best practices in their respective areas.

This will be Bonner’s second year presenting at the conference. For the 2018 Summit, he has been asked to host a day and a half presentation about Building on Resilience: Models and Frameworks. The TCBSBM Summit purchased 100 copies of Bonner’s book “Building on Resilience: Models and framework of Black male success Across the P-20 pipeline” for participants to read and engage with Bonner during the presentation. Bonner has also invited Alonzo M. Flowers III, Ph.D. and Sharon Michael-Chadwell, Ph.D. to participate in his presentation. Flowers will present his research on Gifted Black Male and Poor in STEM who come from Poverty and Michael-Chadwell will present her framework for black and females in P-12 urban school districts. “I am looking forward to taking the research, taking it to the school districts and making it practical,” said Bonner. “It’s one thing to do the research, but if your consumers don’t know about it it’s no good.”
