PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (May 9, 2023) – Due to the forecast inclement weather on Saturday, May 13, we wish to advise you of potential changes to the location and flow of the commencement ceremony.

If weather permits Saturday morning, we will adhere to previous plans for commencement in Panther Stadium. Please note, however, that the ceremony could be shortened if severe conditions interrupt the program.

If it is apparent before the start of the commencement ceremonies that weather conditions require us to move the ceremony inside, we will relocate to the William ā€œBillyā€ J. Nicks, Sr. Building (ā€œBaby Domeā€). If we must use the smaller venue, tickets will be restricted to two per graduate for Baby Dome seating and an additional three tickets per graduate for remote locations (Student Recreation Center, Memorial Student Center Ballroom, Opal Johnson Smith Auditorium). Special Needs seating will be available at remote locations, and staff will be on hand to assist.

If severe flooding and access to campus is restricted, we may need to make further adjustments to commencement plans.Ā For friends, families and guests unable to attend the commencement ceremony in person, PVAMU will stream the event live on the Universityā€™s official YouTube channel,Ā www.youtube.com/pvamu. A link to the stream can also be found on the Universityā€™s homepage on the day of the ceremony.

In any instance, we strongly urge graduates to attend graduation rehearsalĀ on Friday, May 12, at 8:30 a.m.Ā in the Baby Dome. Graduates will receive pertinent details about the ceremony, tickets, name-calling cards, and honors cords at that time.

Our graduates, as well as families and friends, must check the PVAMU website and official university social media channels early morning on the day of commencement for updates to the ceremony.
