Dear Students,

As we embark on a new academic year, I want to take a moment to recognize and commend your tenacity, commitment, and unrelenting effort during this past year. Your presence at Prairie View has been a positive light that inspires us to be our best selves. Continue to make strides toward your academic, personal, and professional goals.

We are committed to providing you with an excellent educational experience that will prepare you for success in your future endeavors. As we work this year to break barriers and overcome challenges, I ask that we work together, understanding that the road ahead may not always be easy, but in unity, dedication, and continued focus, we can consistently press towards the mark, never stop trying to improve and reap success. We are here to support you, and we will be rooting for you.

To our first-year and transfer students: we warmly welcome you to “The Hill” and look forward to the beginning of your lifelong commitment to learning and service. We hope you are excited to create memories and advance to new heights through new knowledge, experiences, and lifelong connections at PVAMU (Prairie View A&M University).

We have many resources to assist you in being successful in your studies, and we ask that you take full advantage of these opportunities. Visit Career Services and begin learning about career opportunities of interest to you. For your academic needs, visit the Writing Center and the Tutoring Center to assist with your class instruction and assignments. Additionally, the Academic Help Desk will answer your academic-related questions.  Get familiar with the Student Code of Conduct and use it as a guide. A complete list of the resources provided in Student Affairs can be found under the Campus Life tab on the University’s website.

Your mental and physical well-being also is very important to us; you are encouraged to take advantage of the Counseling Center and the Recreation Center, with amenities and activities that can serve as a well-earned break from your studies. Stay connected and get involved in one of more than 200 student clubs and organizations on campus.

I look forward to welcoming all of you as we move across the campus this academic year.

Go Panthers!
