Overview

The PVAMU Psychology Training Clinic (referred to as the Clinic or PVPTC) is a not-for-profit mental health facility that was established in 2008. The Clinic is a teaching, training and clinical research center affiliated with the PVAMU Department of Psychology, College of Juvenile Justice. Within this setting, a variety of mental health care services are provided, including individual (child, adolescent and adult), couples, families and group psychotherapies, a broad range of psychological assessments, as well as mental health consultation to physicians, other mental health facilities, and community-area schools.

Mission

The mission of the PTC is to serve as a clinical training ground for doctoral students enrolled in the clinical psychology program at PVAMU and to provide quality evidenced-based clinical services to the community. Through the PTC, doctoral students are supervised by licensed clinical psychologists and are trained to apply professional and ethically sound assessment and psychological treatment methods that are based on prevailing scientific evidence.
