At Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU), the field education is designed to offer students a platform for the practical application and integration of the nine core competencies through real-world service delivery. This experience allows students to apply theoretical knowledge from the classroom, hone their skills, and reflect on their professional attitudes and values. Additionally, students have opportunities to examine the impact of social policies on services, develop research questions related to their practice, and evaluate the effectiveness of various interventions.

Field education is a fundamental component of social work education at PVAMU. The university utilizes diverse methods to connect students with affiliated agencies, ensuring robust hands-on learning experiences. PVAMU’s School of Social Work maintains partnerships with a wide array of social service agencies both locally and nationally. Instruction during the field education is provided by qualified social workers in collaboration with clinical faculty from the university.
