Moving Psychology under the Brailsford College of Arts & Sciences

Last year, psychology faculty made a case for moving the department to the College of Arts and Sciences. An assessment of psychology programs within Texas confirmed that the vast majority of programs are housed in a College of Arts and Sciences or College of Liberal Arts and Humanities. Approved by the Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) and Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), the Department of Psychology will be moving to the Brailsford College of Arts and Sciences. The move will take place on June 1 to coincide with the Summer 2021 semester.

Renaming the College to the College of Juvenile Justice

Resulting from the Department of Psychologyā€™s move, the collegeā€™s name will change from the College of Juvenile Justice to the College of Juvenile Justice.Ā  The name change will also fortify the focus and commitment of the College and the Texas Juvenile Crime Prevention Center (TJCPC) on juvenile crime prevention and juvenile justice policies and bring greater visibility to faculty research and recruitment of highly qualified faculty and students. The change further presents an opportunity over time to add resources for faculty and students to expand their involvement in community crime prevention efforts and increase research opportunities.
