Juan Francisco Lopez is a hardware design engineer at NASA – National Aeronautics and Space Administration  Software Development and Integration Lab (SDIL) for the International Space Station Program at NASA’s Johnson Space Center.

A first generation college graduate, Juan received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Prairie View A&M University in 2013 and also established the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) PVAMU Student Chapter in 2012-2013. He has worked at Boeing, recruited directly from PVAMU, for 7 years, at two different sites St. Louis, MO and Houston, TX supporting Space Exploration programs CST-100 Starliner, and International Space Station.

One of his long term passions is to give back to the Houston area Hispanic community and as such, served on the SHPE Houston Professional Chapter 2019-2020 E-board as Membership Coordinator, to inspire and motivate the next generation of Latinos to pursue careers in STEM. One notable highlight, was coming back to PV in 2019 as a panel speaker for a Career Advice workshop with students, and advisors!

Juan is always a proud PV alum, and believes it gave him the educational tools, strength, and vision to pursue his dreams of being an engineer.
