Prairie View A&M University is committed to conducting research responsibly and ethically. Topics related to Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) include: Research Misconduct, Data Management, Conflict of Interest, Collaborative Science, Responsible Authorship, Mentoring, Peer Review, Animals Research, Biosafety-DNA/rNA, and Human Subjects Research.

Training is offered by the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative to familiarize researchers with these topics. This training meets the National Science Foundation (NSF) requirements for RCR training for student and postdoctoral researchers working on an NSF-sponsored project.

There are multiple course options for training.  Below are the instructions for setting up a profile and completing RCR training via CITI.

Prairie View A&M University’s Financial Conflict of Interest in Sponsored Research System Policy and University Rule establishes guidelines for the disclosure of Significant Financial Interests and management of Financial Conflicts of Interests in sponsored research. Investigators are required to submit Annual disclosures in MAESTRO. In addition to completing annual disclosures, investigators must complete the 2111716 : Financial Conflicts of Interest in Research training in TrainTraq every three years.

What is a Financial Conflict of Interest?

A Financial Conflict of Interest is a significant financial interest that could directly and significantly affect the design, conduct or reporting of research or research activities.

Who is required to submit a disclosure?

Project Director, Principal Investigators and any other person, regardless of title or position, who is responsible for the design, conduct or reporting of research or research activities, is required to submit an annual disclosure.

What happens if a Significant Financial Interest is found?

If the Conflict of Interest (COI) Official determines that an FCOI exists, the COI Official or designee will notify the investigator and work with the investigator to develop a management plan to  manage, reduce or eliminate the FCOI.
