
The Prairie View A&M University Police Department will be hosting the Bicycle Patrol Course from Monday, July 18 through Thursday, July 21st. Class time will be from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. This course is currently only offered to Prairie View A&M University Police Officers.
This course is to educate the police officers on the aspects of riding a bicycle as an alternative to motor vehicle patrol. The student will learn the history of the patrol bicycle and will learn the main parts of the bicycle itself. The student will also learn “technical cycling” which will enable the student to manipulate a bicycle in a more confident and efficient manner. The student will learn about equipment and clothing requirements along with patrol procedures and tactics. Learners must possess the ability to ride a bicycle and be able to exert moderate physical exercise for various lengths of time. A quality mountain bike and appropriate bicycle riding clothing are required. The majority of this class will be outdoors, so the student must also be prepared for inclement weather.

Special Instructions:
Attendee must provide their PID # to receive TCOLE credit for this course. To promote a professional environment, UPD Training Division requires proper business casual attire. T-shirts, shorts, capri pants, and flip-flops are prohibited.
Participants will receive 24 TCOLE hours for taking this course.
