Remote (Off-Campus) Testing

What is Remote Testing?

Remote testing allows PVAMU students to take the TSI Assessment at an institution close to their homes. Remote Testing is available for all students who are located outside of the Prairie View Area and cannot take the TSI Assessment on the PVAMU Main Campus and is especially useful for out-of-state students.

Remote Testing Guidelines

  • Out of state students are only permitted to test at a community college, technical/vocational school, or four year university. Students will NOT BE permitted to test at any of the following: high schools, public libraries, for-profit testing center or any other location not approved by the PVAMU Testing Office.
  • Students who are out of the country living on US military bases may contact us about testing with the DOD testing centers located on your base and approval will be determined on a case by case basis.
  • Anyone testing CANNOT take the same section TWICE in one day.

What is the Remote Testing process?

  1. You register and pay for a remote voucher through our PVAMU Testing Services, and in your registration form you will choose one of the Remote Testing options
  2. A remote voucher is sent via email from Accuplacer or from the PVAMU Testing Center to the remote institution and the student
  3. Upon receiving the remote voucher, the student makes an appointment with the remote institution and pays any proctoring fees associated with their testing*
  4. Student brings a copy of the voucher with them to take the exam
  5. Student takes the exam and upon completion the TSI results are inputted into the PVAMU system by the TSI office within 48 hours

*BE AWARE that in addition to the PVAMU cost for the remote voucher ($10 per section), the remote institution administering the exam may charge a proctoring fee (because you are not a student of their university) and you are solely responsible for paying this fee.

What are my options for Remote Testing?

Option 1: Choose a Remote Institution from the Remote Testing Site List in the registration form. A copy of that list can be found here: Remote Testing Sites List

Option 2: Locate a testing center at an institution closer to your home that will proctor the exam for you. Retrieve the name, email address, and phone number of the test coordinator at that institution and place that information in your Remote Testing Registration form.

Registration forms are not processed automatically. Please check your SPAM and JUNK mail folders as vouchers are known to be found there on occasion. Please note, if you do not pay for your exam via the PV Marketplace, your registration form will not be processed. If you do not receive your remote voucher via Accuplacer or the PVAMU testing center within 48 hours AFTER paying for your exam send an email to aetesting@pvamu.edu with your 5 or 6 digit receipt number.
