  • What is PV Cares? PV Cares is part of a student success model that fosters a culture of care and responsiveness where every undergraduate student is assigned a CARE team that will work with them throughout their entire time at PVAMU?
  • What is the Care Team? The Care Team consists of an academic advisor, career coach, and a financial counselor.
  • How can a student find their Care Team? Students can log into Panther Navigate to see their Care team members.
  • What is Panther Navigate? Panther Navigate, EAB Navigate, is a proactive communication and collaboration system between professors, academic advisors, financial counselors, career coaches, students, and staff. It is designed to support student success by promptly identifying issues and allowing for intervention before students fall behind at any point in the semester. The platform includes features such as scheduling student appointments with their Care Team staff, comprised of an Academic Advisor, a Financial Counselor, and a Career Coach. Panther Navigate also provides a centralized notes archive of student interactions and history.
  • Will graduate students be assigned a Care Team? Graduate students are assigned a financial counselor for financial counseling and financial literacy advisement.
  • Is the Care Team for freshmen only? No, every undergraduate student will be assigned a professional advisor, career coach, and financial counselor.
  • Will the Care Team assignment change? The Care team assignment will not change unless the student changes their major and the new major is within a different grouping.
  • When will Care Teams be assigned? Care team assignments will be made by August 1st for fall 2024. After fall 2024, Care team assignments for new students will be made by August 1st for fall semesters, January 3rd for student starting during spring semesters and June 1st for students starting during the summer.
  • How are Care team staff assigned? Care Team staff are assigned according to major?
  • Why are faculty not part of the Care team? Beginning in fall 2025, a faculty mentor will be part of each Care team.
  • If a student stops out, will they have the same Care team when they return? Students who have to stop out are not guaranteed to have the same Care team when they return.
  • Are parents allowed to interact with the Care team? Care teams are required to adhere to the requirements of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) when interacting with parents. Please see information related to FERPA here.
