PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (December 11, 2025) — The Texas A&M University System is proposing the launch of a Research Excellence Fund (REF) designed to strengthen research capacity, competitiveness, and impact across all member institutions—including Prairie View A&M University.

The REF will support strategic, high-value initiatives that advance discovery, fuel innovation, expand workforce development, and bolster national competitiveness.

This merit-based program will prioritize:

  • Collaborative projects among A&M System institutions

  • Alignment with state and national priorities

  • High-return investments that position researchers and institutions for long-term success

Additional details, including eligibility and proposal requirements, will be shared as the program framework is finalized. PVAMU researchers are encouraged to begin considering potential partnerships and areas of strategic alignment to maximize this opportunity.
