Pre-Nursing Academic Requirements

  1. Review the PVAMU admission/acceptance requirements.
  2. Met the required 3.0 Cumulative GPA and 3.0 Support Area GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  3. Have not repeated more than two (2) of the Pre-Nursing pre-requisite courses.
  4. Completed 60 Pre-Nursing pre-requisite hours (to be most competitive) or a minimum of 45 hours.

Pre-Nursing Pre-Screening Requirements

Obtain and scan required documents individually into PDF format. (DO NOT scan or save an IMAGE as a PDF)

  1. Nursing Application Fee – Pay the $60 Application Fee online and print the receipt.
  2. Recommendation Forms – Obtain two letters of recommendation. (G.R.I.N.D. and BRIDGE participants may use their certificate as ONE letter of recommendation.
  3. Community Service –  It is recommended that students have 40 hours of community service.   Completing these community service hours can have a positive impact on scholarships offered by the College of Nursing.
    1. Volgistics Community Service Form – Log in and print out your Volgistics Community Service Record.
    2. Verification of Community Service Form – Use the Verification of Community Service Form for hours done outside of PVSNA. Use one form per volunteer organization.
  4. HESI-A2 Score Document – Passed the Pre-Nursing Entrance Exam within two attempts; including Critical Thinking, prior to the College of Nursing’s application deadlines (March 1st for Fall, September 1st for Spring).
  5. College Transcript(s) – Submit official transcripts (including those for Dual Credit, AP and CLEP courses) from all other institutions attended to PVAMU Office of Undergraduate Admissions or provide an official transcript to the Office of Pre-Nursing Advising, Main Campus.  DO NOT SEND TRANSCRIPTS TO THE COLLEGE OF NURSING-DOWNTOWN.
