Welcome to the Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance at Prairie View A&M University! I’m Dr. Daniel Pardo, Interim Department Head, and it is a true pleasure to invite you to explore our dynamic and growing community of artists, educators, and innovators.

We are proud to be an All-Steinway School, home to an extraordinary international faculty, and fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM)—a mark of excellence that reflects the rigor and integrity of our programs. Students may pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Music with concentrations in Music Education, Music Performance, or General Music, along with a Minors in Music, Theatre and Dance open to students of all majors. No matter your path, you will find personalized mentorship, world-class training, and opportunities that position you for success in graduate study, the professional arts, and beyond.

Our alumni go on to thrive as artists and educators, continuing their studies at top graduate programs such as the Mannes School of Music, Carnegie Mellon University, and New England Conservatory, as well as performing on Broadway and national tours, and teaching in schools across Texas and beyond.

Looking ahead, we are expanding opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration, innovative research, creative technology, and community engagement. We believe the arts thrive when they intersect across musical genres, academic disciplines, and cultural perspectives. Here, students develop as artists, scholars, educators, and leaders, prepared to make a difference in the world.
