Our Approach

To begin this effort the university has pulled together an Interim Data Governance Working Group, composed of senior representatives from across the University, brings together cross functional operational expertise to help shape, align, and operationalize data governance practices.

This group is intentionally collaborative, reflecting PVAMU’s shared responsibility for institutional data stewardship.

The Data Governance Council (DGC) serves as the leadership body guiding this work and overseeing Working Group activities. The Interim Data Governance Working Group is chaired by the Vice Provost for Institutional Research and Integrated Data Analytics, with the Chief Information Officer and the University Transformation Officer serving as Co-Chairs.

Role of the Working Group

The Working Group serves as an advisory and operational body that:

Analyzes data issues and operational impacts across units
Develops recommendations, drafts definitions, and reviews data processes
Identifies risks, inconsistencies, and process gaps
Supports alignment of data practices across systems and units
Communicates outcomes and impacts to data owners
Collaborates to ensure PVAMU’s institutional data are accurate, consistent, secure, and reliable

All recommendations, standards, definitions, and proposed system changes are elevated by the Data Governance Council (DGC) for review, approval, and advancement to University administration.
