Eligibility & Requirements

  • First-year students are admitted for the Fall semester of each year.   Transfer students with less than 24 credit hours will also be considered
  • Open to all majors
  • Must have submitted an on-campus housing application.
  • Application Deadline: June 1, 2023
  • Applications are accepted until September 1, 2023

Learning Community

  • B-GLOBAL is a two-year learning community that integrates curricular and co-curricular programming in an intentional way to promote the acquisition of global competence skills.
  • Participants will live near other first-year students in a themed housing community and participate in the First-Year Experience activities in the University College (UC) or the Square
  • The activities incorporate targeted advising services and other resources to ensure success. 
  • Participants will take an engaging freshman experience course/lab to help them meet other B-GLOBAL participants, network with engaging speakers, and take field trips.  This course is zero credit and at no cost.

Associated Classes

  • B-GLOBAL students are encouraged to take at least one African American Studies (AFAM) designated class and two “B-GLOBAL” designated course options, which include foreign languages.
  • All B-GLOBAL and AFAM courses fit within the University’s core curriculum or an academic major.  For example, many courses fit within the “Global Awareness” and the “Language, Philosophy, and Culture” areas of the core curriculum, which apply to all majors.
  • B-Global students receive additional advising support to ensure all courses meet their degree requirements.
