Honors Admission Guidelines for Prospective First-Year Students
To be considered for membership into the PVAMU Honors Program as an incoming first-year student, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA (unweighted)
- Minimum 1240 SAT or 25 ACT (please contact our office if you have questions)
- Must be accepted into Prairie View A&M University for the Fall 2024 semester
- Complete the University’s Honors Program Application for First-Year Students
The deadline for first-year students is Thursday, April 4, 2024
Applicants who meet the criteria to apply to the Regent’s University Scholarship or a Presidential University Scholarship are encouraged to apply to this program as well. Please visit their respective webpages for additional information.
Admission Guidelines for Current PVAMU Upperclassmen and Transfer Students
To be considered for membership into the PVAMU Honors Program as an upperclassman, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum 3.70 cumulative GPA
- Have the status of being a sophomore or junior in the Fall 2024 semester
- Minimum 15 credit hours earned from PVAMU
- Complete the University’s Honors Program Application for Current and Transfer Students
The deadline for upperclassmen was Thursday, February 15, 2024
Submission Process:
The following items are required for a complete application:
- The Application (including essays and headshot)
- 2024 PVAMU Honors Program Application for Incoming-Freshmen (*with video submission)
- 2024 PVAMU Honors Program Application for Current PVAMU Upperclassmen and Transfer Students (*with video submission)
- Video Link Submission
- *Instructions and Submission Portal
- Letter of Recommendation
- Recommenders will need to send their letter directly to pvamuhonorsprogram@gmail.com
- Letters sent in from the applicant will not be accepted.
- As a courtesy, applicants should give their writer at least a 3-4 week notice.
- First-Year recommendation writers should be either a High School Principal, Counselor, Teacher, or Advisor.
- Upperclassmen recommendation writers must be a university professor or Dean.
