Who should I ask?

For First-Year Applicants
Choose someone who knows you well from high school in an academic or leadership setting. Good options include:

  • A teacher

  • Counselor

  • Principal or assistant principal

  • Dual-credit or AP/IB instructor

  • A mentor or coach who can speak to your character

Think: someone who can confidently speak to your promise and personal qualities.

For Current PVAMU Upperclassmen & Transfer Applicants
Choose someone who knows your work at the college or professional level. Good options include:

  • A PVAMU professor

  • A professor from a previous institution (transfer students)

  • Academic advisor

  • Internship or research supervisor

  • A mentor familiar with your college-level performance

Think: someone who can speak to your maturity, habits, and potential for Honors-level work.
