Effective September 1, 2024, Dr. Camille Gibson, Endowed Professor in the College of Juvenile Justice, has agreed to serve as interim dean of Graduate Studies. She will also oversee the Northwest Houston Center. Dr. Gibson served as the interim dean of the College of Juvenile Justice and executive director of the Texas Juvenile Crime Prevention Center for the past five years. Under her leadership, College faculty experienced increased access to time and resources for research, which contributed to the College doubling its research funding during her tenure. Dr. Gibson and her college’s efforts led to greater opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to engage in professional development, global exposure, research, experiential learning, and targeted law and graduate school mentorships. She worked effectively with faculty and staff to enhance student metrics in timely degree completion, retention, graduation, and post-completion success. Dr. Gibson’s research has centered on criminalistics, emergency management, cybersecurity, social services, and law. She is a past President of the Southwestern Association of Criminal Justice and a past elected board member of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences.
