A consortium agreement is a written contract that allows students to receive federal financial aid from Prairie View A&M University for courses taken at another institution, a “visiting school”, that are transferable to their degree program. A student’s financial aid is based on the total enrollment hours between both schools. Some study abroad programs are eligible for a consortium agreement.
Students enrolling in coursework outside of PVAMU are expected to pay the visiting institution’s tuition and associated enrollment fees according to payment deadlines for each institution. After the consortium form is processed by both PVAMU and the visiting school, the student will be reimbursed via their financial aid funding. Please note that PVAMU will disburse aid according to its disbursement schedule and not the visiting institution’s. Financial aid will automatically be applied to PVAMU costs. Any remaining funds will be sent to the student via direct deposit or a mailed check to the local address on file.

Summer 2026 consortium processing begins May 1, 2026. Visiting institution transcripts must be submitted by September 1, 2026.
Fall 2026 consortium processing begins August 1, 2026. Visiting institution transcripts must be submitted by January 1, 2026.

Things to Note:
- Grades of D or below in visiting institution courses may not be counted, however, they will be used in determining Satisfactory Academic Progress for financial aid eligibility. Please consult with you Academic Advisor to determine if a grade of D will be counted.
- If studying abroad, please be sure that you have consulted with the Office of International Programs.
