A consortium agreement is a written contract that allows students to receive federal financial aid from Prairie View A&M University for courses taken at another institution, a “visiting school”, that are transferable to their degree program. A student’s financial aid is based on the total enrollment hours between both schools. Some study abroad programs are eligible for a consortium agreement.

Students enrolling in coursework outside of PVAMU are expected to pay the visiting institution’s tuition and associated enrollment fees according to payment deadlines for each institution. After the consortium form is processed by both PVAMU and the visiting school, the student will be reimbursed via their financial aid funding. Please note that PVAMU will disburse aid according to its disbursement schedule and not the visiting institution’s. Financial aid will automatically be applied to PVAMU costs. Any remaining funds will be sent to the student via direct deposit or a mailed check to the local address on file.

Students can enter a consortium agreement in a particular semester via the Consortium Agreement Form and the following steps:

  • Meet with your Financial Counselor to determine your eligibility for financial aid.

  • Determine which courses to take at a visiting institution. Talk to your academic advisor to confirm those courses count towards you PVAMU Degree and meets the course program of study policy.

  • Meet with your academic advisor to complete the pre-approved transfer credit form.

  • Submit the Consortium Agreement Form to the Office of Student Financial Services at fadmail@pvamu.edu, including both PVAMU and the visiting institution’s signature, along with a copy of the pre-approved transfer credit form.

  • Once verified and approved, PVAMU will notify the student and process consortium agreement accordingly.

  • Register for approved visiting institution coursework and pay the appropriate tuition and enrollment fees.

  • The visiting institution’s enrollment cost will be reimbursed once PVAMU disburses financial aid.

  • At the conclusion of the course, send an official transcript to PVAMU’s Office of Student Financial Services upon completion of the consortium term. Failure to do so may affect future financial aid.
