Professional Experience

Dr. Lisa A. Wines is a tenured, full professor at Prairie View A&M University. She has worked in a university setting since 2003. Dr. Wines has extensive knowledge and training in school counseling and holds a certification as a school counselor. She understands the responsibility of licensure as a professional counselor and supervisor and maintains a private practice in the Woodlands.

With 24 years in education, she has served in various leadership roles that incorporate study abroad programming, online courses, curriculum design, coordination of programs, faculty searches, program overhauls for accreditation, and the supervision of counselors in schools and private practice. She has been employed in the Texas State, Texas A&M, and University of Houston systems.

In order to produce a high-quality school counselor or therapist, the model of training has to be intentional- infusing theory, process, observation, and reflective mental health and wellness practices. Dr. Wines is very skilled at supporting students and interns to fearlessly maximize their potential as they will be charged to serve members of our community.
