Educational Leadership and Counseling
ATTENTION ALL PRINCIPAL CANDIDATES – URGENT NOTICE
* Beginning December 31, 2018, Principal Exam #068 will no longer be available for first time takers. Retesting for exam #068 will only be available thru August 31, 2019 and will be retired effective September 1, 2019. Principal candidates who have not completed program requirements (coursework and internship) by August 31, 2019 will not be eligible for certification under the #068 exam. Candidates who have finished program requirements by that time and passed the retiring #068 exam will need to be recommended for certification no later than October 30, 2019. After that date, the exam becomes invalid and it will be necessary for candidates to retest for the new replacement #268 exam.
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is implementing additional new principal certification exam requirements that deviate drastically from the #068 exam, which is being retired. It is imperative that principal candidates contact the program coordinator for Principal Certification in the Education Leadership and Counseling Department to fully understand how it may affect their certification requirements.
Effective September 1, 2018, ETS will no longer be administering the TExES exams. Candidates who began testing with ETS and continuing with testing will need to set up an account with Pearson testing before registering to take any exams.
