The Respondus package has several components, among them are Respondus 4.0 and LockDown Browser. Each Respondus component is described below. There are also links to videos from Respondus that show how to use each component.
The first step to using Respondus (the component) is to download and install it. To begin the step, go to the PVAMU Respondus page. Be sure to review all of the information on that page.
Respondus
- Respondus allows you to:
- Create test questions and import them into eCourses.
- Import questions from text format (Word, plain text, RTF and other file types) and coverts them to eCourses format.
- Creates and question banks and/or tests and publishes them to eCourses

Respondus LockDown Browser (LDB)
- The instructor sets exams in eCourses to require students to use the LDB.
- The LDB locks students’ computers into their exams until they finish and submit them.
- Students cannot print while they are taking the exam.
- It is more difficult for students to cheat because it keeps them from opening other programs on their computer while they are testing.
- Click here for a video overview of the LDB
- Faculty: Click here for video instructions on how to prepare a test for the LDB in Canvas
- Students: Click here to install the LDB on your personal laptop, desktop, or iPad
Note: Respondus Monitor is no longer in use at PVAMU.
StudyMate Campus
- StudyMate Campus allows users to create flash cards, self-assessments, and learning games from within Canvas.
