As Prairie View A&M University celebrates 150 years of excellence, we proudly honor alumni whose achievements reflect the University’s historic impact, enduring values, and bold vision for the future.

The Alumni Recognition Awards elevate graduates who have distinguished themselves through professional achievement, leadership, service, philanthropy, and lifelong commitment to Prairie View A&M University. As part of this milestone year, these honors recognize individuals whose legacies embody the very best of Prairie View across generations.

For 150 years, Prairie View A&M University has produced leaders who have transformed industries, advanced communities, and upheld the University’s mission of excellence and service. Recognizing outstanding alumni during our sesquicentennial year allows us to:

Eligibility

Nominees must:

  • Be a graduate of Prairie View A&M University (any degree level)
  • Demonstrate significant professional achievement, leadership, or service
  • Reflect the University’s mission, core values, and tradition of excellence
  • Be willing to participate in recognition and storytelling activities

Alumni Recognition Categories

During the 150th Anniversary celebration year, alumni may be recognized in the following categories:

Distinguished Professional Achievement Award

Honors alumni who have attained extraordinary success and recognition in their professions.

Distinguished Public Service & Civic Leadership Award

Recognizes alumni who have made meaningful contributions through public service, civic engagement, or community leadership.

Distinguished Service to Prairie View A&M University Award

Honors alumni who have demonstrated exceptional service, advocacy, and long standing support of the University.

Distinguished Philanthropic Leadership Award

Recognizes alumni whose philanthropic leadership has advanced Prairie View A&M University or causes aligned with its mission.

Young Alumni Achievement Award

Honors alumni within 15 years of graduation who have demonstrated early career distinction, leadership, and service.

Lifetime Achievement Award

The University’s highest alumni honor, recognizing an individual whose career long accomplishments, sustained leadership, and lasting impact embody the highest ideals of Prairie View A&M University and contribute meaningfully to society over a lifetime.

Selection Process

  • Nominations are reviewed for eligibility and completeness
  • Qualified nominees are evaluated by a University-appointed selection committee using an established scoring rubric
  • Final recommendations are submitted for presidential approval
  • Honorees are formally recognized during an official Alumni Recognition Event held as part of Prairie View’s 150th Anniversary celebration
