Dr. Jim Hasselback will present a three-hour Casualty and Theft Losses Seminar that will be live on the web using Zoom on December 12, 2024. Continuing education credit will be available for CPAs, Enrolled Agents, and those wishing to complete the IRS Annual Filing Season Program.

 

Dr. Hasselback has taught at several universities, including the University of Florida, Texas A&M University, and Florida State University. A member of the American Accounting Association and the American Taxation Association, he has published over 150 papers in professional and academic journals, including several top journals such as The Accounting Review, The Tax Advisor, Financial Management, Journal of Real Estate Taxation, and the American Business Law Journal.

 

Dr. Hasselback has presented papers at numerous national and regional professional meetings and served as chairman of tax sessions at professional conferences. He regularly facilitates continuing education seminars for Certified Public Accountants, Enrolled Agents, and Accountants. He was the editor of the Hasselback Accounting Faculty Directory, published yearly for over 40 years. He was also the editor of many faculty directories in various disciplines, including management, marketing, finance, economics, engineering, computer science, and nursing.

  • Determining whether a casualty loss is allowed
  • Identifying the year a casualty loss may be claimed
  • Analyzing casualty loss limitations
  • Preparing Form 4684
