The CopySense Appliance is configured to redirect users to a Graduated Response website when they exceed a sanction level of inappropriate network usage. Users are required to accept a compliance agreement to no longer illegally distribute/download copyright material. When a computer is determined to be using P2P software to obtain illegal copyright material or when using an evasive P2P client, a preventive technical safeguard will be implemented for the following time frames:
Level 1:
The first offense will block the user’s web browser. Once P2P activity is stopped the user’s web browser will be redirected to a web page with the following text. If the user agrees to stop this activity by clicking the “I Will Comply” button internet access will be restored after 4 hours.

This is your first detected violation and represents a warning notice to stop this activity immediately. It is illegal and a violation of University policy to distribute copyrighted works owned by others such as music, movies, TV shows, games, software, electronic books, etc.

The user’s internet access will be terminated indefinitely and the user will placed under student conduct review by the Office of the Dean of Students and University Compliance.
