Office of the Provost
The Office of Academic Affairs provides administrative leadership for the university curriculum governance cycle. The Associate Vice Provost for Academic Affairs works directly with the chairs and the membership of the Undergraduate Council and Graduate Council to review and approve new programs, minors, and certificates; changes to existing programs, minors, and certificates; course additions, changes, and deletions; and changes to program and course modality. The office facilitates all curriculum changes that require external approvals from the Texas A&M University System (TAMUS), the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
Curricular Services
The Office of Academic Affairs Curricular Services Sharepoint site provides important information related to the curriculum governance process. All required forms, supporting documents, deadlines and calendars, and instructions for proposal submissions can be found on this site.
Graduate and Undergraduate Councils
Membership on the Graduate and Undergraduate Councils is based on respective bylaws. Information on council members and bylaws can be found on Curricular Services.
Academic Policy
The university SACSCOC Liaison is responsible for notifying the Commission of substantive changes and program development. Please visit the Policy on Reporting Substantive Change for additional information.
Distance Education
The Office of Academic Affairs collaborates with the Center for Instructional Innovation and Technology Services (CIITS) in the review and approval of requests for distance learning courses. The Request for Approval to Offer a Course via Distance Education form must be submitted for respective council approval, as well the Distance Learning Self-Study.
Academic Technology
The Office of Academic Affairs utilizes Courseleaf Catalog (CAT) and Courseleaf Curriculum (CIM) for the production of the University Academic Catalog and initiation of curriculum proposals. All colleges and schools have a designated Point of Contact within each department and a College/School Approver with access to make updates to the catalog. Questions regarding access should be directed to the Office of the Registrar.
