The Office of Academic Affairs has oversight of the Academic Program Review (APR) process at PVAMU. The APR process, coordinated by the Associate Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, under the leadership of the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, is an integral component of institutional effectiveness, which is defined as “ongoing, integrated, and institution-wide research-based planning and evaluation” that involves systematic review and results in continuing improvement (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, CR 2.5 Principles of Accreditation).
Graduate Program Review
Chapter 2, Subchapter I, Section 2.181 of Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board rules provides criteria and procedures for the review of existing graduate programs. The rule creates a 10-year period during which institutions are required to review all master’s and doctoral programs. Programs without specialized accreditation are required to follow APR guidelines for external evaluation.
