January 13 – Harris County Agent Jarren Small started working with a group of 40 Sixth graders at Lawson Middle School in Houston ISD. He implemented a six-week Leadership Curriculum that covered defining how to find & ignite your spark and how that correlates back to everyday life.

While working with underserved youth, Mr. Small noticed that many students don’t have leaders outside of their school and everyday environment who share a relatable stance with them. His program exposed students to topics such as “How to identify and develop Your Spark,” and Finding your spark.”

On Tuesday, November 12, 2019, Mr. Small invited Reebok’s Houston Marketing Manager, Daniel Dunford, to his 4-H club at Edison Middle School.  Dunford discussed how he started and what ignited his spark to enter the shoe industry at a young age. Mr. Dunford also discussed physical elements and broke down the process of shoe development from concept to completion. He inspired students to believe in their dreams.

Lawson students and teachers were very excited by the surprise visit. At least one student left the class enthusiastically commenting that “This day helped me realized that I could do whatever I put my mind to.” –  In the end, the lecturer Mr. Dunford left the entire class with Reebok school supplies packages.
