December 3 – The largest annual meeting of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is forthcoming and now is your opportunity to attend. The conference will convene in Arlington, Virginia on February 21-22, 2019, with a focus on current issues and trends affecting agricultural production and global markets. The theme is “Growing Locally, Selling Globally.” The U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue and USDA Chief Economist Robert Johansson are among the scheduled speakers for the event.

In the week leading up to the conference, the Future Leaders in Agriculture Program will take 30 undergraduate and graduate students on a trip to Washington, D.C. where they will experience a USDA briefing, explore various career opportunities in agriculture, and tour the nation’s capital. Students can apply for the program via the USDA website.

Students who will arrive early are encouraged to attend the Pre-Forum Field Trip. This full day of activities will focus on urban agriculture.
