R. O. Berry Memorial LectureSeveral Undergraduates and members of the International Goat Research Center attended the 22nd Annual R.O. Berry Memorial Lecture in Reproductive Immunology, held in Navasota, TX on October 21, 2016.  The keynote speaker for the Lecture was Gil Mor, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Science at Yale University School of Medicine.  He captivated an audience of over 90 participants with his talk on  “Polymicrobial infections during pregnancy: maternal and fetal risks.”

The lecture was held in conjunction with the 10th Annual Texas A&M University (TAMU) Interdisciplinary Faculty of Reproductive Biology Retreat.  Trainees provided a diverse collection of poster and platform presentations from TAMU and Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU).  The day long event was an excellent opportunity for PVAMU students to interact with other trainees and identify potential mentors for the next stage of their careers. Greg Johnson, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, TAMU, and Gary R. Newton, College of Agriculture and Human Sciences, PVAMU, organized this year’s event.

The namesake of the lecture, Raymond O. Barry began his career as an Instructor and Assistant Professor, Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas (1931-1936), and finished his career as Professor of Reproductive Physiology and Director of Family Planning Services at PVAMU (1970-1976).
