Disaster Management

Disasters are occurring more frequently and increasing in intensity. Whether natural or manmade, events such as floods, storms, gas leaks and explosions have grave consequences on society and the environment. More important, other disasters such as the COVID-19 pandemic continue to wreak untold global havoc socially and economically. These disasters have lasting negative quality of life impacts on communities.

Due to their land-grant structure, 1890 Universities are uniquely positioned to improve quality of life in limited resource communities through targeted research-based programming. Dr. Noel M. Estwick works with student researchers, colleagues at PVAMU, land-grant universities (LGUs), other national and international academic institutions and other Federal and non-Federal partners on funded research projects to address disaster related issues.
