This launch is part of our 2025–2030 Strategic Plan, which focuses on academic excellence, research innovation, student success, and community engagement. The new identity reflects not just a change in name, but a renewed commitment to visibility, impact, and leadership across agriculture, food, and natural resources.

• Animal Systems – advancing livestock science, animal health, nutrition, reproduction, and sustainable production methods.
• Plant Systems – leading innovations in crop science, genetics, physiology, and resilient agriculture.
• Food & Nutrition Systems – addressing food security, nutrition, and public health through cutting-edge research.
• Natural Resources & Environmental Systems – developing resilient water and soil, and sustainable practices to protect ecosystems and communities.
• Social Systems & Allied Programs – integrating behavioral and social sciences, agricultural economics, and resilience against disasters to strengthen rural communities and address food access.
• Artificial Intelligence Systems – harnessing artificial intelligence, data science, and precision agriculture to revolutionize research and practice.

These efforts are strengthened by specialized centers, including the Controlled Agriculture Center encompassing the Greenhouses that house world-class research on medicinal plants and sweet potatoes, Algae Biotechnology Center, Meat Science Center of Innovation, The International Goat Research Center, Poultry Center, and the Food Security Research Center, which have gained national recognition for innovation and global partnerships.

At the heart of this work is PVAMU’s 770-acre research farm, the Gov. Bill and Vara Daniel Farm and Ranch which is a living laboratory for experiential learning, applied research, extension, and industry collaboration. The farm connects students to real-world agricultural practices while generating solutions for Texas, the nation, and beyond.

These are aligned with the PVAMU Journey to Eminence 2035, CAFNR Strategic Plan and the USDA NIFA Plan of Work, along with the Vision of Excellence for CAFNR Research at PVAMU.

Within CAFNR Research, we proudly host a variety of events that showcase the groundbreaking work of our faculty, staff, and students. In addition to special highlights throughout the year, we also host recurring weekly events, including the Research Seminar Series every Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. and the Land-Grant Seminar Series every Thursday at 11:00 a.m. These gatherings provide valuable opportunities for sharing knowledge, fostering collaboration, and advancing research within our campus and broader communities.
