The Poultry Center at PVAMU has a building with office spaces for research scientists, staff, and student researchers. The center has a lab, a poultry processing facility, and three barns; layer, broiler, and turkey. The research and processing facilities are used for research and teaching purposes. The layer, broiler, and turkey barn facilities are used for research studies on various aspects of poultry management and nutritional studies.

Improving Performance and Productivity in Poultry

Nutrition plays a very important role in improving the performance and productivity of poultry. The demand for phytogenic feed additives has increased due to the growing preference for natural and safe alternatives, enabling them to be utilized in poultry feed to improve productivity and replace antibiotic growth promoters. Sustainable and environmentally friendly poultry production requires a continuous search for alternative feed ingredients and feed additives for improving efficiency and profitability. The research focus of our lab includes poultry nutrition and nutrigenomics, phytogenic feed additives, gut health, microbiome, alternative feed resources, agro-industrial by-products and in-ovo nutrition.
