CAHS graduate student Worker, TolulopeJune 1 –  As a graduate student employee of the College of Agriculture and Human Sciences (CAHS), Tolulope Olutimehin, a sociology major, has been a great contributor to research and development of work being done in the CAHS.

The PVAMU Office of Student Employment recently selected Tolulope as PVAMU’s Graduate Student Employee of the Year. In her words, “I’m humbled to receive this, as I never expected it, but when surrounded by the best co-workers, putting in your best is always easy.”

Associate Professor, Ram Ray, served as Tolu’s supervisor, but that working relationship blossomed into Ray being more of a mentor. “Tolu possesses the intellectual acumen for research writings; she always put in her best with little supervision, and contributed to helping the department achieve its objectives in publishing papers and gathering data through farm work. She is proactive, intelligent, self-motivated, confident, reliable, and open and willing to learning new things,” Ray said.

Before graduating in Spring 2020, she worked for about two years at the Cooperative Agricultural Research Center (CARC). The department and her supervisor Ray had a tremendous influence on her life, and she hopes her future as well, “Working in CARC has always been very impactful to my career, and I hope to keep giving my best,” said Tolulope.

Ray further said the Office of Student Employment made the right decision at the right time before her graduation. Tolu truly deserved this honor. “Since she plans to continue her Ph.D. degree at PVAMU, I hope to see her around and wish her good luck,” he added.

“As an international student, working and collaborating with staff and students from other cultures, has always been a great learning process for me, and collaborating on research projects here has been topnotch,” said Tolulope.
