Last month, the Agriculture Future of America (AFA) announced the names of 40 college students to serve as the organizational Ambassadors and the College of Agriculture and Human Sciences (CAHS) junior Trinity Bluford was among the students selected. As an ambassador, Bluford’s duties will include recruiting students to join the organization and informing them how to get involved with AFA opportunities on campus and at various events on behalf of AFA.

“I am truly excited to begin working with Agriculture Future of America and keeping this connection to CAHS,” Bluford said. “The ability to give our students access to an amount of agriculturally based companies through the Leaders Conference and the several institutes is a wonderful privilege!”

For more than 25 years, the AFA has been dedicated to building bridges for young leaders and encouraging engagement and innovation in the food and agriculture industry. According to the AFA website, qualities that an ambassador must possess are resiliency, problem-solving, reliability, persistence, excellence in time and task management, and a passion that aligns with AFA’s mission, to name a few. Becoming an ambassador will help Bluford strengthen her leadership qualities, a benefit she sees already coming to fruition since partnering with AFA.

“This organization treats its student leaders as employees,” Bluford said “therefore, my soft skills are always at work, along with managing my persona in extended meetings or all-day sessions. This has been the most professional environment I have consistently participated in.”

Today, AFA has awarded over $11.5 million in academic and leadership development scholarships.
